![]() ![]() System Preference works, so I went in and I tried logging out of icloud (thinking the issue might be related to that), when i tried signing out, system preference froze. I tried using disk utility to verify and repair, but disk utility found no issues detected. plist and restarting my computer, still no progress. Went into terminal and tried multiple different variations of deleting. Create a new user, logged into it, finder was working, browsed through a few folders, then restarted my computer, Finder still not working in my main user account. Go into safe mode, which was super slow and screen was super glitchy, finder still not working. Killing and relaunching Finder and Spotlight from Activity Monitor. Force Re-launching Finder (Through force quit application). However, Chrome and other apps are working (I haven't tested everything), so I'm googling for solutions and here's what I've done so far, but still no progress: Spotlight and Preview as well weren't working. So I tried restarting my computer and then pages was still not launching (unresponsive) and then I noticed that Finder wasn't working and none of my files were appearing on my desktop. So I killed it and then pages became unresponsive and I didn't think much of it. So yesterday, my macbook pro's fan was on, but I was barely doing anything intensive, at first I thought it was chrome, but after closing it, it still didn't change anything, so I opened activity monitor and saw "bird" was pushing the cpu, I quickly googled bird and saw it had something to do with icloud (I did have a few "pages" window open). HELP - Finder, Spotlight and other apps aren't working - Yosemite 10.10.2 Hi and thanks for clicking on this post - I hope you can help! ![]() Maybe somebody had a similar issue and knows how to solve? And the worst is I need to spend now my work hours to pass through the complicated process of downgrading. On Yosemite i used to have 2 virtual machines running, lots of browser tabs, an IDE with lots of processes and other bunch of things. I was working on it since 2012 and decided that i will never get back to PC. ![]() These suggestions are worth the same as giving an Advil pill to somebody who was shot in the head. I googled the problem, and the only suggestion Apple has for me is "restarting your laptop", "checking if disk is full" or "removing some startup apps" or "checking activity monitor" or some other ********. I tried to reinstall a virtual box app - the process that usually takes a few minutes took 45 minutes! And while it was processing, the entire mac was unusable. The most popular icon i see on my monitor is the "waiting" circle icon with the rainbow. Some of my usual working applications (that still were working after the upgrade) stopped working after the update (tunnelblick for example). To simply switch from one open app to another might take a minute! It seems that it is working smoothly sometimes, but suddenly it starts lagging and then every little thing like opening a folder in Finder, starting light applications, browsing in internet takes so long that i can smoke a cigarette in between. I'm unable to work - the activity monitor shows decently low usage of memory and cpu, but the things are not moving! at all! After the upgrade it still seemed to be fine, but the first update on the new OS has literally killed my Mac. ![]() I have (I had) a good working 2012 Macbook Pro i7 and i made the worst mistake in my apple life - upgraded Yosemite to High Sierra. ![]()
